ActiveEdge's Integrated Technical and Marketing Approach Helps ChannelSpeed Application Gain Momentum
ChannelSpeed software streamlines intermodal reservations and management with new version release

Nashua, NH – ChannelSpeed developers, REZ-1 of Newton, MA contracted ActiveEdge as part of the development and launch team for the new ChannelSpeed software application. The new version release streamlines the company’s intermodal reservations and management system making user interactions more intuitive with improved user interface and enhanced functionality.

ActiveEdge contributed several key components to the new application development and product launch from both a technical and marketing perspective throughout the multi-phase process. “Working with REZ-1 on the ChannelSpeed release was an ideal situation for us” said Deepak Gursahaney, ActiveEdge Principal and Chief Technology Officer. “This project gave us an opportunity to showcase both our technical savvy in the application development phase of the project as well as our marketing expertise during the actual product launch”.

Preliminary technical work focused on design of the software’s graphical user interface or GUI that visually displayed the application’s programming through the use of navigation, icons, buttons, cursors, and scroll bars on the page. “Because this application was an enormous departure from our previous version, it was critical that the ChannelSpeed GUI have complete ease of use and visual appeal to make the transaction as smooth as possible for our users” said Mark Lambert, ChannelSpeed Project Leader for REZ-1.

To give users a peek at the new interface and to let them experience the expanded functionality of the application prior to conversion, ActiveEdge later designed and programmed an interactive flash-driven product demo highlighting the new features and upgrades.

ActiveEdge also played a key role in designing, programming and implementing both the visual and communications portion of the product launch for REZ-1’s ChannelSpeed. The creation of a new product logo defined the product’s brand identity which was incorporated into collateral pieces such as a product data sheet, ChannelSpeed sub pages on the company’s corporate website, and an e-mail template that was used throughout the product launch to communicate important product information to customers. “It was a real challenge to ease the customers into the change, to communicate what was expected of them, and to generate excitement for the new application” said Lambert. “With the help of ActiveEdge, we were able to meet these goals and do so with a very aggressive timeline.” ChannelSpeed was released in late June. REZ-1 anticipates a full migration of all its customers to the new version release by early August.
